Privacy Policy — SecureRecorder
Last updated: August 10, 2026
1. Data Controller
The data controller in connection with the use of the SecureRecorder app (Android, packages com.nas4tech.securerecorder / com.securerecorder.app) is nas4.tech. Contact: contact@nas4.tech.
2. Core Principle
SecureRecorder was designed to process data locally on the user’s device to the greatest extent possible. By default, no recording or its content is sent to the developer’s servers.
3. What Data We Process
3.1 Audio Recordings
The app records sound from the microphone (and optionally from external microphones: Bluetooth, wired, USB) based on explicit user action or a user-configured trigger. Recordings are encrypted with AES-256 and stored locally on the device. We have no access to them, and they are not sent to our servers.
3.2 Transcription
Speech-to-text conversion is performed entirely locally on the device using an offline Whisper model. No recording or fragment of a recording is sent to us or to external transcription services to generate text.
3.3 Optional Backup and Live Recording Mode
If the user configures and enables this feature, the app may upload recordings (including cyclic uploads during an ongoing recording — "live" mode) to a cloud service selected by the user: Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, or the user’s own WebDAV server. The app connects to these services only to the extent required to save files ("app files only" access), without access to email, contacts, or other account data. This feature is fully optional and disabled by default.
3.4 Advertising ID
The app displays ads via Google AdMob. For this purpose, the device’s Advertising ID and basic technical data required to display ads are collected and transmitted to Google. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, consent for personalized ads is collected in line with GDPR requirements via the Google consent form (User Messaging Platform). Details of Google’s data processing are described in Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
3.5 Location
The app does not have location permissions and does not collect device location data.
3.6 Contact Data
The "Contact Developer" feature opens the user’s default email client with the address contact@nas4.tech. The app itself does not collect or transmit any data through this feature — we only receive what the user consciously sends to us by email.
3.7 System Permissions
The app may use the following Android system permissions solely for the purposes described below:
- Microphone — audio recording (core feature)
- Notifications — required for the background recording service (Android 13+)
- NFC — optional trigger to start recording by bringing a tag close
- Device storage — saving recordings (older Android versions)
- Network access — app updates, optional backup, ad display
4. Sharing Data with Third Parties
Data may be shared only with:
- Google AdMob — for ad display (Advertising ID)
- a cloud service selected by the user — only when the user actively configures and enables the backup feature
We do not sell user data and do not share it for any other purpose.
5. Legal Basis for Processing
- Recording and transcription — necessary to provide the functionality requested by the user (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR)
- Ads and Advertising ID — user consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), collected in accordance with local requirements
6. Data Retention Period
Recordings remain on the user’s device until manually deleted by the user. We do not store copies of recordings on our own servers.
7. User Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to access your data, rectify it, erase it, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time (e.g., by disabling personalized ads in app or device settings). To exercise these rights, contact us at: contact@nas4.tech.
8. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children of that age.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this policy. We will inform users about material changes in the app or on this page, together with the last updated date shown at the top of this document.
